A piston ring is provided for sealing the cylinder wall to the piston body. The piston ring includes a ring body that extends about an axis and has an inner surface and an outer surface. The inner surface provides a pair of ridges
extending radially inward and the outer surface provides a groove. A spring made of an elastomeric material surrounds the ring body substantially circumferentially and sits inside the groove on the inner surface. The spring biases the ring body radially inward to seal the ridge against the piston body. The ring body further extends at least one extending from the inner surface to a position on the outer surface at an angle relative to the radially inward direction on one axial side of the spring for carrying oil out of the space between the ridges.
