4. You don't have to be a scientist to solve big environmental problems. One Dutch designer is finding creative ways to make a change﹣and he's inviting cyclists to join him.

Daan Roosegaarde, 38, is a designer from the Netherlands. He uses creative ideas to improve city life. He launched the Smog Free Project to reduce urban smog and give people the \.

His latest idea is to work with engineers at Chinese bike﹣sharing company Ofo to create a new product for public use﹣an air﹣cleaning device attached to a bicycle. In smoggy weather, the device would suck up the air in front of the bike and blow out clean air toward the cyclisfs face.

Another part of the project is the Smog Free Tower. In 2014, Daan saw Beijing's famous CCTV building covered in smog. He was inspired to do something about it. So he designed a 7﹣meter﹣high tower that could purify polluted air outside.

Both of them use a process which collects harmful particles from the air, such as PM2.5. The tower purifies the air by giving out positive ions (离子), which stick themselves to pollutants. Then, a screen inside the tower, which is negatively charged (带负电荷的), willdraw the positive ions along with the pollutants.

\(静电)﹣﹣it's the same principle, \. It's no secret that air pollution is a big problem for Chinese cities. During the winter months, smog is common in large areas of China, which is caused largely by the burning of coal and car emissions. \﹣free bikes are an exciting idea that will hopefully help toward creating greener cities.\

(2).How does the Smog Free Tower work according to the article?________ A.It gives out negative ions to collect pollutants. B.Its screens can break down harmful particles. C.It has many layers of screens that gather pollutants. D.It draws in pollutants the same way as static works.

(3).What can we learn from the text?________

A.Daan believes in the positive influence of smog﹣free bikes. B.Daan thinks his work has greatly improved China's air quality. C.Daan is going to try his air﹣cleaning device on cars.

(4).What is the author's purpose in writing the text?________ A.To offer a good solution to China's air pollution problem. B.To tell how shared bikes can help protect the environment. C.To introduce Daan Roosegaarde creative Smog Free Project. D.To discuss the problems of Daan RoosegaardeJs latest invention.
