ElaineDuncan,togetherwithDavidSheffieldofStaffordshireUniversity,England,studied94regulardiaristsandcomparedtheirhealthwiththatof41non-diarists.thesubjects,allstudentsatStaffordshireUniversity,answeredquestionsabouttheirdiary-keepinghabits,andfilledinastandardhealthquestionnaire.

Statistically,thediaristsscoredmuchworseonhealthmeasuresthanthenon-diarists.Worstaffectedofallwerethosewhohadwrittenabouttroublesfromthepast.“Theyweresusceptibletoheadaches,”saysDuncan.
