This is a lesson from Unit 6, Grade 3. There are two main learning objectives; one is that Ss should be able to properly pronounce and write down the numbers from eleven to fifteen; the second one is understand how to ask and answer “How many … do you see? I see…”

Students in Grade 3 have learned some numbers already. They have also learned basic rules in phonics which will help them learn faster in this lesson. In the meantime, though students have more self-control than lower graders, they still need motivation in the learning process and thus various activities are designed along with the story, which will help practice students’ listening, speaking, reading and writing abilities.

Period Lesson Teaching Contents The first period Unit 6 Part A Let’s learn After this period, students will be able to 1. Pronounce and write the number eleven to fifteen; 2. Ask and answer “ How many …do you see? I see…” 3. Build self-confidence and rapport through group work. Key points Difficult Points Understand the pronunciation of each number and summarize the rule for thirteen, fourteen, fifteen. The pronunciation of “twelve” and “teen”. materials Flashcards, magnetic stripes, magnets and stickers.

[Teaching Procedure]

Steps, Contents, Time Step 1: Warm-up (2 mins) Lead-in questions Teacher Activities Ss Activities 1. Greetings 2. Interact with the teacher and sing along. 1. Watch and tell the story with the teacher. 2. Listen and practice how to pronounce the target vocabulary using phonics in groups. Purposes Help Ss relate learned knowledge (1-10) to the target vocabulary (11-15) of this lesson. Putting the target words ( 11-15) can create a context for Ss to learn the phonics rule in a more interesting way. Ss can not only learn about the 8 words but also review the words they have 1. Greetings and introduction. 2. Show the song of “How many”. Step 2 : 1. Copy the words from P59 eight times; 2. Listen to and read the chant in pairs; 3. Preview P58. Blackboard notes 1.Guide Ss to add numbers 2. Guide Ss to put numbers in order 3. Guide Ss to finish the writing task. 1. Practice the adding in groups then answer T’s questions; 2. Read the words inside the balloons out loud and put them in order; 3. Write down the words. 1. These are designed in the form of 3 games, which will arouse Ss’ interests and motivate them more.
