It’s my great honor to be here sharing my lesson with you.
The content of my lesson is《New Standard English 》Book4 Module10 Unit1 It’s next to the park. Then I’m going to talk about it through the following six parts: analysis of the teaching material, analysis of the students, teaching aims, teaching points, teaching preparation and teaching process. 一、Analysis of teaching material
This lesson is the last module of this book. In Module 9,the students have already learned sth about the directions, and this module we will continue to talk about it .The theme of this module is places. The function is finding places. There are some new words and phrases in this unit:next to,in front of,cousin,supermarket,well,of course,and also some new sentences:Where’s the supermarket/zoo?It’s next to the park.It’s in front of the school. 二、Analysis of the students
The Ss in grade 2 have learned English for more than 1year.They are lovely, active and they have taken great interests in learning English. They like aims and conte 三、Teaching aims
According to the teaching outline and combining the students’ situation, I make the teaching aims of this lesson as follow. (一)Aims on the knowledge
1.The Ss can understand and speak the words and phrases: next to,in front of,cousin,supermarket,well,of course.
2.The Ss can understand and speak the sentence patterns: Where’s the supermarket/zoo?It’s next to the ….It’s in front of …. (二)Aims on the abilities
1.The Ss can read the dialogue fluently.
2.The Ss can find the places by using the sentence patterns: Where’s …?It’s next to the ….It’s in front of …. (三)Aims on the emotion
After learning this lesson, students can be polite to others when asking for help. (四)、Teaching points A.Key points
1.The Ss can understand and speak the new words “next to,in front of,cousin,supermarket,well,of course” ,and the sentence patterns “Where’s …?It’s next to the ….It’s in front of …”.correctly to they find places. B.Difficult points
The Ss know the difference of “next to” and “in front of” and find the places freely. 四、Teaching and learning strategies
According to the modern teaching theories, I adopt the Task-based language teaching method, Audio visual teaching method, and the students will use the independent study method and cooperation study method. 五、Teaching preparation
Tape, recorder, photos, multimedia, cards, stickers.
六、Teaching process
I divide the teaching process into five steps. 1. Warming-up----3’ 2. Presentation----12’ 3. Practice—12’
4. Consolidation—10’ 5. Cooler—3’
Step Ⅰ Warming-up 1. Greetings
2. Chant: Left foot, right foot.
3. Game: To be a policeman or policewoman and play “Turn left, turn right, go straight on.”
(Purpose: According to children’s psychology, chant and games can make them pleased and arouse their interests in learning English, let them enter the atmosphere of learning quickly. And the policeman game will also help them review the knowledge they learned in Module 9.)
Step Ⅱ Presentation 1. Show Xiyangyang
T: Who’s this? Today Xiyangyang will introduce us a new friend---cousin Lin. He knows the city well. Why? Let’s learn Module 10Unit 1,and go on to talk about directions.
2. Listen and answer: Why does cousin Lin know the city well? S: Because he’s a taxi driver. 3. Listen and repeat then answer:1)Where is the supermarket?
S:……….It’s next to the park. Game: Show Meiyangyang and put it next to one
student. And others say: Meiyangyang is next to the….
2)Where’s the zoo?
S:……..It’s in front of the school.
Game: Show Meiyangyang and put it in front of
one student, then others say: Meiyangyang is in front of….
4. Students play the two dialogues with the headdress of cousin Lin. T:Wow, you know the city well. (Purpose: This step presents the new words and key sentences with the help of the CAI. Ss can get a whole understanding of the text by answering 3 Qs. When playing games, students put Meiyangyang in different places and try to distinguish the two important phrases “next to” and “in front of”.) Step Ⅲ Practise
1. Listen and repeat again and pay attention to the pronunciation. 2. Read and act in groups. 3. Fill in the blanks. CAI 1)

(Purpose: In this step, students practice their spoken English and they will be checked if they have already understood the knowledge. And teacher also use the same practice to teach them a new word “behind”.) Step Ⅳ Consolidation
Show a map of Xiyanyang’s village, Lanyangyang is in the supermarket, Meiyangyang is at the park, Xiaohuihui is in the zoo, Xiyangyang is in the hospital. If children want to visit them, they will ask the way. And don’t forget to be polite to others.
A: Excuse me, where is the….?
B: Go straight on/turn left/turn right. It’s next to/in front of … A: Thank you.
B: You’re welcome.
(Purpose: In this step, children will join in the activities together. They use the main drills in such a real scene. So that they’ll have chances to improve their language abilities.)
Step Ⅴ Cooler
1. Summary 2. Homework
A: Listen and read the words and the text B: Draw the route from your home to school.
(Purpose: Homework will be done in different steps, and children will consolidate English after school.)
